📢 Trump Pressures Zelensky on Territorial Concessions: Legalizing Aggression or a Historical Recurrence?
Donald Trump stated that Volodymyr Zelensky has “not very good ratings” inside the country and that he will have to concede territory and then hold elections.
Donald Trump stated that Volodymyr Zelensky has “not very good ratings” inside the country and that he will have to concede territory and then hold elections.
🤔 But what do Zelensky’s ratings have to do with Ukrainian territory occupied by the Russian aggressor?
❗ Does Trump realize that, in doing so, he is effectively legalizing Putin’s war? Any recognition of territorial concessions as a compromise legitimizes war as a tool for resolving "disputes."
📌 But there was no dispute! Russia invaded Ukrainian territory because the Kremlin considers it its own property, and Ukrainians its subjects.
📢 Recognizing territorial concessions violates all norms of international law!
⚠️ Zelensky and elections are an internal matter of Ukraine.
⚠️ Negotiations may be a way to suspend the war.
⚠️ But territorial concessions to the occupier are nonsense.
Why offer a cannibal your hand if you are the main course on his menu?
❗ This strongly resembles 1938, when Hitler was allowed to seize part of Czechoslovakia for the sake of peace. Remember what that led to?
🔎 Let’s recall:
British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, along with European leaders, agreed to transfer the Sudetenland to Hitler in exchange for a promise of peace.
📸 In a famous photo, Chamberlain holds the document known as the Munich Agreement, signed with Hitler, and declares the famous words:
"I have brought peace for our time."
Yet within a year, Hitler violated the agreements, World War II began, and Chamberlain’s appeasement policy ended in complete failure.
